Shaprio's is Opening a New Location!

SHAPIRO'S, a contemporary craft gallery and long time tenant at BayWalk is getting ready to open a new gallery at 300 Beach Drive. The new location is immediately next door to Parkshore Grill and across the street from the Museum of Fine Arts. SHAPIRO'S has been located downtown over ten years - on Central Avenue, then BayWalk and now Beach Drive. The gallery features jewelry, blown glass, pottery, metal and other unique handmade gifts. The gallery is home to more than 200 artists and crafts people from all over the United States. Owners Sue and Mike Shapiro hope to open Saturday November 21, 2009.

Meanwhile, SHAPIRO'S location at BayWalk is changing its concept. While the current gallery moves to Beach Drive, the new gallery at BayWalk will feature St. Petersburg artists, daily artist demonstrations, meet and greet events as well as artwork for purchase. The gallery at BayWalk will reopen on November 20 and will feature "Charlie Parker and Friends."

Owner Mike Shapiro explains that "We have an opportunity to partner with BayWalk and provide an excellent venue for local artists to show their work during the busiest time of the year. We already have the infrastructure in place and the new gallery will provide these very talented artists and craftsmen a downtown venue to showcase their work." Additionally, visitors to the BayWalk gallery can observe daily artist demonstrations and develop a greater appreciation of art and craft.
