St. Petersburg Waterfront Parks Centennial Celebrations Continue with October Movies in the Park
Sylvia P. Rusche Insurance Agency, Inc. has generously decided
to sponsor another month of movies and music following the resounding success of May Movies and Music. Come enjoy the beautiful waterfront setting and the hoped-for start of fall weather each Thursday evening in October at North Straub Park between Beach and Bayshore Drives and across 5th Avenue from the Vinoy. Each evening kicks off with live music by noted Florida singer/songwriters at 6 pm followed by the movie (approximately 7:15 pm). Food will be available for purchase from some of the favorite Saturday Morning Market vendors. Check the centennial website later this summer for the movie titles. THE GRAND FINALE ~ PARTY IN THE PARKS—A Centennial Celebration!! The parks’ party of the century will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 10 am to 6 pm. One of the biggest downtown events of the year will have something for everybody to enjoy with all-day activities in each of the twelve downtown waterfront parks, stretching from North Shore Park to Albert Whitted Park and Airport. The activities are too many to list but include the SPIFF’s International Folk Fair, a Coast Guard patrol boat to visit, children’s games, seven stages with live entertainment, an old fashioned picnic, car show, the Pier Aquarium’s Spa Beach Splash, airplanes and military equipment on display and much, much more! Bayshore Drive will be closed to auto traffic but open for those on bicycle or foot. A free outdoor movie in the North Straub Park will close out the day.
