City of Writers

Website Launch Party

On Monday, Feb. 15, poet laureate Peter Meinke and a team of local authors will help launch the “City of Writers” website. This free event will be hosted by The Studio@620, at 620 First Ave. South, in St. Pete.    A 5:00 p.m business meeting will be followed by public readings -- appropriately at 6:20 p.m.  Snacks and drinks will be available.    Peter Meinke will read from his collection Lines from Neuchatel followed by an all-star team of local authors, each of whom will perform a 5-minute reading.

These include:

  • Jeff Klinkenberg, feature writer and author
  • Pedro Jarquin, spoken word artist
  • Sam French, young playwright
  • Aleesha Harris, spoken word artist
  • Lane DeGregory, Pulitzer Prize-winning feature writer
  • Margo Hammond, author and critic
  • Dewey Davis Thompson, playwright
  •  Stephanie Hayes, St. Petersburg Times reporter and Deal Diva
  • Sheramy Bundrick, novelist
  • Bob Devin Jones, Studio @620

The Poynter Institute’s Roy Peter Clark will serve as the immoderate moderator.    He says, “Bring your friends!  Join this City of Writers!”
