Love's Labour's Lost
by William Shakespeare
For its second production, the St. Petersburg Shakespeare Company takes on one of Shakespeare's most underrated comedies -- LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST. Set in Navarre, a region in northeastern Spain, the play is a frolicsome exploration of what happens when men who've sworn to avoid the company of women meet the loves of their lives. Brimming with outrageous characters whose pretentiousness, self-importance, or feigned erudition brings them nothing but ridicule, the play is a both a crowd pleaser and a cleverly crafted satire that truly does not "end like an old play".
