Have you heard of Keep Saint Petersburg Local yet?

Keep Saint Petersburg Local aims to encourage prosperity by supporting small businesses and building community. Every dollar spent with locally-owned businesses generates over three times the local economic impact as compared to spending with national chains. Too kick off 2012 they're holding a Free Hugs Fest on January 21 and their inaugural general meeting will be on January 31, 2012. Find out about this group and their events here.

Congratulations to our own in house artist and marketing/administrative manager Coralette Damme who will be creating an installation as part of the First Night festivities "Peek in a Pod" program. Learn more about her project here and then go see it in person on Dec 31 in South Straub Park.

Congratulations to local watercolor artist John Harte who has recently been commissioned by The Loews' Hotel chain for three large pieces of original artwork to be displayed in the lobby and restaurant of the Don Cesar hotel in St. Pete Beach. John has worked with The Studio@620 as an artist for many years, most recently he was part of the Coming of Age in America project and he did a rendering of The Studio for publication in our 2011 Studio Honors event booklet. Everyone at The Studio offers our hearty congratulations to him.

Support local flavor, literally!
