Artist Biographies

First Place

Alicia Loomis

Alicia Leigh Loomis is a native to Florida and currently resides in Bradenton, FL.  In 2006, Alicia received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Eckerd College with a major in visual arts and a minor in human development.

Alicia’s non-representational paintings reflect her concern with the complexities of human life in current times and the struggles individuals encounter while remaining true to their own unique roles within society.  She hopes to inspire and transpire individuals to cultivate their own uniqueness.

Alicia’s recent exhibitions include Ephemera and Segues at The Arts Center, St. Petersburg, and selected shows at C. Emerson Fine Arts, Elliott Gallery, and Manatee Community College Fine Arts Gallery. Permanent collections include Eckerd College and private holdings.  Alicia currently teaches art to adults with physical and mental disabilities in St. Petersburg and creates out of her studio in downtown Sarasota.

Second Place

Jeffrey Wilcox

Jeffrey Wilcox hails from Rush City, Minnesota, a graduate of St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota where he earned his Bachelors degree in Art in 1970 and his Masters degree in Art in 1976.  He then went on to earn an additional certification from Minneapolis Technical College in 1985.  Jeffrey’s exhibition history includes multiple shows at The Pier’s Project Creo in St. Petersburg, Art on the Plains group exhibition at the Plains Art Museum, in Fargo, ND; Volumes, Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis, MN; Outdoor Art, Forecast Public Art Space, Minneapolis, MN and numerous other exhibitions in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Third Place

C. Wade Brickhouse

C. Wade Brickhouse studied Architectural Technology at Wake Technical Community College, Photography at NC State University and the Nikon School of Photography and also pursued private studies with Mary Lou Sussman, a Charlotte, NC printmaker.  He also studied clay works at the Tryon Center for the Arts in Charlotte, NC and attended the Penland School of Crafts to study printmaking, paper making/sculpture in addition to various other workshops in print, paper and ceramics.  Wade’s extensive exhibition history includes numerous photography exhibitions & awards in North Carolina spanning the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, "Explorations II" and Explorations III" print shows in 1999 and 2000 at the Blue Pony Gallery & Press, Charlotte, NC, the 2001
Autumn Art Exhibit by Ocala Art Group held at the Brick City Center for the Arts, Ocala, Fl, Wade earned the 1st place award for graphics at the 2002 “46th Annual Ocala Art Group, Inc, All Members Show” held at the Appleton Museum of Art, Ocala, Fl.  Between 2001 and 2007 Wade has participated in multiple exhibits at the Florida Craftsmen Gallery and The Arts Center, both in St. Petersburg, FL.  He has also been part of many shows at the St. Petersburg Clay Company and in numerous other exhibits held all across the state including the recent 100% Pure Florida juried exhibition held at The Fifth Avenue Gallery in Melbourne, Florida in 2007.
